As the saying goes, there are only two kinds of concrete: concrete that has cracked and concrete that eventually will. Concrete shelters can develop cracks over time, allowing moisture to seep in.
Steel shelters don’t rely on brittle materials that fracture — The result is a cleaner, drier space without the persistent dampness often associated with concrete enclosures.

Each shelter is secured to its concrete foundation with a heavy-duty anchor bolt system rated to resist up to 45,000 pounds of uplift force — comparable to the extreme forces produced by an EF5 tornado.

CENLA Storm Shelters does not perform concrete work. We will provide the required slab specifications for your shelter and can recommend reputable concrete contractors in the area. You are also welcome to use any contractor of your choosing to pour the slab.

In Louisiana, most homes don’t have basements, so above-ground shelters are typically installed on an existing concrete slab. Garages are the most common location because they already provide adequate space and a suitable foundation. However, a shelter can be installed on any concrete slab that meets the required specifications, including carports, workshops, or patios.

Because each storm shelter is ordered specifically for the customer, payment secures your unit and allows us to place the order with the manufacturer. Once the order has been submitted, the sale becomes final and cannot be canceled or refunded.
Please make sure measurements, placement, and site preparation plans are confirmed before purchasing. Changes of mind, project delays, site issues, financing changes, or deciding the shelter is no longer needed do not qualify for a refund.
This policy does not affect your rights under applicable law, and we will of course honor any product defects or delivery errors within the manufacturer’s warranty.
